To date, Mr. Mue is the youngest recipient of the JOY award. Mr. Mue received the award for his work in advocating for the freedom of expression, speech and of the media. At the time, he was working with the South Africa-based Article 19, which works towards enhancing freedom of expression worldwide in line with the provisions of Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Mr. Mue has written on human rights issues and worked on human rights, the rule of law and democracy issues at the regional and international levels.
