To date Mr. Mue is the youngest recipient of the JOY award. Mr. Mue received the award for his work in advocating for the freedom of expression, speech and of the media. At the time, he was working with the South Africa-based Article 1 which works towards enhancing freedom of expression worldvide in line with the provisions of Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Mr. Mue has written on human rights Issues and worked human rights, the rule of law and democracy issues at regional and intemational levels.
