Press Statement: ICC Confirmation Decision

ICJ Kenya wishes to express its support for the International Criminal Court's decision to confirm charges against four out of the six Kenyans accused of gross human rights violations stemming from the 2007-8 post-election violence.  The decision, which was passed on January 23rd, 2012, means that the ICC found sufficient grounds to proceed to trial on the matters concerning Uhuru Kenyatta, William Ruto, Joshua Sang, and Francis Muthaura.

ICJ Kenya urges the Government of Kenya and the accused persons to continue to cooperate with the ICC processes, to continue to promote the rule of law, and to fulfil their obligations under the Constitution, especially with regards to the provisions on integrity under Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
